The Annual Dinner and change of Insignia, was the other enjoyable
Evening held at the Writington Country Club- Club Suite on the 7th May t,The Mayor of Wigan, Regional SI President, Rotary Presiden

and The Speaker Dr NN Naqvi attended- Donation for the Heart beat appeal was presented to Dr Naqvi Cardiologist at Wigan Infirmary.

The SI Wigan has an International theme almost every Year,
in 2008   it was the Indian Evening, Indian Cuisine, Fashion Show,and Entertainment was enjoyed by the guests raising almost a £2000/- for Charity.Last Year A good old English Hog roast was enjoyed by the Guests who attended and money was raised for the Charity This year it promises to be the African Evening and Surely this will equally be a resounding success -with-Fun, Gains for Charity and Friendship with the public of Wigan


Some Years the SI Wigan Club Members visit their Friendship Links in other countries above
are the pictures from such a visit to Castlebar, and the reciprocated vist of the members of SI Castlebar

Local Projects such as Sleeping Bags and Shoe boxes for the Homeless Has been an annual effort by the SI Wigan Club in helping the Local community.
DIAS - Local Drop in and Share centre, which supports Women and Children who suffer the consequences of Domestic Violence are helped by Donations from the SI Wigan Charity Funds and Service- Two of the Soroptimists are trusties of this Group

The Club works for the Community in other ways such as working with
local PCT to create awareness of conditions such as Osteoporosis.
Last year the Club raised £12000?- for this Project. A Specialist Nurse has been appointed to work with community, schools and other organisations to give children and women a better health

The organisers of the service have designed a competition for a poster to build strong Bones. Atracting the imagination of the targeted community to combat the condition before it strikes

Charity Ball 2010

SI Wigan's ninth Chairtiy Ball was in held in March this year.
Over the years this has been an annual event for the club -

over £50,000 has been raised for Charitable causes.

The Picture below is that of Mr Allan the Jewellers from 25 Makinson arcade in WIgan. Mr Allan donated a 18ct white Gold Chain and a Diamond pendant for Auction which fetched over £1100/-

The Profit made at this event (after expences) was over £5000/- which swelled the Charity funds, for the coming year.

Thanks to the Public & Local Businesses Like Debenhams,Barbaras of Standish, Blakeleys Waste Management, Chadwicks, Fairhurst Accountants, Style and comfort,Douglas Printers, and many More in making this a successful Project.
