About SI Wigan

The Wigan Club was chartered in 1941 and the first President of the Club was Dr M A Haigh
There have been three Regional Presidents from this Club and one Federation President.
Our Club is one of 20 in the South Lancashire Region,
which is in the Federation of Great Britain and Ireland,
one of the 4 Federations throughout the world.

This is a small but friendly and very active Club.
and will warmly
welcome anyone with a social conscience who wishes to join us bearing in mind
admission to the club is at the descretion of the membership commitee

We meet at 7.30pm on the 3rd Monday of each month at
Wigan and Leigh Hospice, Kildare Street, Hindley, Wigan for a Business meeting

and

at 7.30pm on the 4th Monday of each month at
The Beeches in Standish, Wigan
for a Speaker meeting,
The speakers at these meetings are from the local busineses community
and other voluntary oganisations. This contact helps us understand local problems so that we can direct our service and charity commitments accurately
Membership of the club is by Invitation only. It helps Personal development but no promise is made regarding proffessional development.

 

The Objects of Soroptimist international

(a) to maintain high ethical standards in
business, the professions and other aspects of life;

(b) to strive for Human Rights for all people
and, in particular, to advance the status of women;

(c) to develop a spirit of friendship and unity
among Soroptimists of all countries

(d) to quicken the spirit of service and Human
understanding;

(e) to contribute to international understanding
and universal friendship
